Thank You Notes
I received a thank you note from someone on Saturday. The note was in thanks for a gift I gave this person. The gift was a compass I gave her when she was changing from a job she held for several years. If memory serves, the note in the card I gave said something along the lines of "may you always follow your dreams and let your compass guide you to them".
This young lady had a great impact on me and my company - she opened the door for our firm to work with her company, had we not worked with them, we likely wouldn’t have been able to grow as rapidly as we did in a period when others weren’t seeing that sort of growth. The company was huge and, at that period was the most hiring company in Phoenix - we were a small company still trying to find our way - she gave us a huge opportunity and I hope we delivered.
Here's my favorite part of the story - I gave her that gift 7 years ago! She was reminded of the gift last week, sent ME a thank you note and wrote something very meaningful and powerful to thank ME.
If ever there was a reminder of how important it is to thank people for helping you get to wherever you are in life, it was this gesture of incredible thoughtfulness.
Moral of the story - send a thank you note to someone when it is YOU who should be thanking them! If it has nearly the impact this one had on me, it can make you fly pretty high for a while.
Terri - THANK YOU!
